Temro Zerostart - Doesn't disappoint

Worked as stated. Had Canadian Tire install around the battery. Easier than getting it done in the bitter cold.

Works well for 1 winter, then it's useless.

Pro: it works well...WHILE IT LASTS.
Con: it only lasts 1-2 winters with moderate use (20 times a year), the cord will fray and detach where the plug is (see picture) and that makes it useless. It should be lasting longer than that.
**I do NOT pull the cord out of the extension cord incorrectly, the issue is from the cord shrinking in the extreme cold because the cord isn't insulated very well.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Works but cheap parts
The image shows this product coming with two pieces of thin wire, like you'd find in a box of garbage bags. This has been changed to a thin strap with a plastic buckle to hold the blanket against the battery. As I was installing it the buckle immediately broke so I had to use zip-ties. Other than that it works, though I wish the cord was just a little bit longer.

Only last 1 year!

I bought this 1 year ago. And it worked well for that year during winter. But by next winter it stopped working. Worst of all whenever I try to plug it in, it would trip my circuit breaker. Tried several methods and no solution. Had my mechanic check it out and he said its no good. He also suggest trickle charger/maintainer as better than the warmer.

Q: I'm not familiar with these generally. Is it intended and safe to work with an existing block heater or is it one or the other? Could I safely plug the block heater and the battery blanket into the same 16/3 extension cord?

A: Both together is an excellent way to ensure starting in winter. The block heater warms the oil (or coolant) so the engine is easier to turn over. The battery blanket warms the battery so it is at it's most powerful despite the cold temps.

Q: I bought this for my 2010 Honda Civic, it has a Honda brand battery, not sure if it's lithium ion or acid and lead. Temps are currently -28 to -30 °C will any harm come to my battery regardless at these temps? They only had this is store.

A: First of all, I suggest doing more research to find out exactly what kind of battery you have (for example, an AGM battery, a wet cell battery, etc.). Knowing what battery you have will better inform you on how to care for it and maintain its performance. And to answer your question, if the battery warmer product is suited for your battery, then temps of -28 to -30 degC will not harm your battery. In fact, that's what the battery warmer is for -- to help your battery function better when the temps get that low. But again, please make sure the battery warmer product is compatible with your type of battery.

Q: I have a back up generator in case power goes down in winter, it has a battery start and the battery is only 7 inches long and 7 inches high. Would this battery be useable for this battery or would it be much too long for this battery?

A: It would be too long. It is designed for a automobile battery and the instructions say not to overlap it.

A: Not sure, depends on the battery, I purchased it for my husband, and he didn’t want to use it, so I have it for sale on marketplace, since I didn’t return it in time. Brand new if you want to check it out on fb marketplace.

Q: How do you know if temro battery blanket is working
a year ago
2 Answers
A: Seems to work quite well. Once plugged in, it will start to become warm within about two minutes. It never gets hot. Only warm. Got me through last winter fine. Only little niggle I have is that they could have provided a bit better securing system. An extra-long "Garbage bag" tie doesn't quite do it. I ended up using thin bungie cords. Much better. The more contact area the blanket has with the battery, the better. I have two of these blankets. Other than the tie, no complaints.

Q: Which 50 ft extension cord do you recommend for this product? Thanks.
2 Answers
A: I would go with a 14/3 cord that’s rated for cold weather (so it stays flexible) and has a single, illuminated plug on the end. You could also go with a 12/3 cord if it’s on sale & cheaper but it’s not necessary. The plug lights up to let you know you’ve got power there. I personally rarely use extension cords with tri plug ends on them and find them cumbersome.
