What are the most common toilet repairs?
Leaking flush valves, fill valves, and worn-out seals are common issues to fix, as well as broken levers and damaged toilet seats.
What parts do I need to fix a toilet?
The parts you need depend on what you're fixing and what the problem is. Some issues can be fixed by replacing a gasket or seal, while others require replacement parts, from full toilet repair kits with a range of parts to specific pieces such as valves, levers or flappers.
How do you fix a toilet flush valve seal?
If a constantly running toilet is due to a leaky flush valve seal, replacing it isn't too difficult. First, shut off the water supply and flush your toilet to lower the water level, then locate the worn-out seal to confirm it's the problem, break it and pull it out by hand or with pliers. Carefully roll the new seal around the overflow tube, disconnecting the water refill tube if needed, then roll the seal down into place at the base of the overflow tube and onto the flush valve. Once everything is in place and reconnected, turn on the water supply, flush, and check to see if the seal holds.
