What hardware do I need for a gate?

Essential parts include gate hinges so it can swing open, and a latch or gate hook and eye to keep it closed. Other hardware, like gate handles, self-closing springs, and locks are good to have but not necessary.

How do you secure a fence gate?

The best way to secure a fence gate is with any type of latch. Automatic gate latches are the most convenient as they'll lock when the gate closes, but any type of latch will secure a gate and keep it closed.

What hardware do I need for a double gate?

A double gate will require double the hinges compared to a single gate and can be done with just one latch that secures the doors to each other. A drop bolt is an important part of a double gate that drops into a hole to stabilize the gates.

What tools do I need to install gate hardware?

A tape measure and writing utensil are important to have so that you can ensure each part will fit together. You will also need a screwdriver or drill to screw parts in.
