How to Correctly Wire Automotive Connectors
Prepare the wires by using wire strippers. Be sure to leave about a quarter inch of exposed wire and then twist the strands together to ensure a reliable connection. Use a butt connector to connect the wires. Take your first wire and run it in, and then use a crimping tool to crimp the connector down. Do the same to the other wire on the other side of the connector. With heat shrink butt connectors, use a heat gun to seal the connection.
