What are the different parts of a door?

All doors have hinges, a door panel, and a knob or pull. Exterior doors always include a lock or lockset to secure the door in addition to the other parts, and usually have a door sweep to seal.

What door hardware needs to be replaced most often?

For front doors and interior doors, knobs, handles, and locks see the most use and can wear out sooner than other parts of the door. For storm doors or screen doors, the catch or screen are most likely to need replacement or repair.

Can I replace door hardware myself?

You can replace door hardware yourself. You'll need a screwdriver or drill with the right bits, tape measure, and hammer. In some cases, you may require a chisel to fit hardware into the door frame.
