What type of night light should I buy?
There are several factors to consider before buying a night light. Consider a plug-in night light, projection night light, or table/desktop night light for bedroom spaces. As the name suggests, a plug-in light can be plugged into wall outlets and typically protrudes little to ensure safety. They offer a dim glow, with a maximum radius of a few feet, and are ideal for children's bedrooms or nurseries. For slightly older kids, consider a projection night light capable of projecting visuals onto the ceiling. Popular shapes, such as stars and moons, fill the roof, providing comfort and intrigue to your child. For adults, consider a desktop or tabletop night light with the option of a built-in alarm or white noise generator. For spaces without access to wall outlets, consider batteryoperated night lights.
Can you leave night lights on all night?
Yes, most night lights consume very little energy and do not significantly affect your energy bills. Consider using LED bulbs over incandescent, as they're not only of lower wattage but produce the same brightness. While LED bulbs last longer, they cost slightly more. Consider motion-activated night lights for hallways and bathrooms or other parts of the house that do not constantly require illumination. These help save energy and lower energy bills by turning on only when it detects motion in their field of vision.
