What is a washer in a faucet?

A faucet washer creates a seal in compression-valve faucets. The washer is typically fitted into the stem and held in place with a screw.

What are the sizes of faucet washers?

The most common sizes for faucet washers are 1/4, 3/4, and 5/8 inches in diameter, though there's a wide range of sizes that reflect the many types of faucets. To make sure you get the right replacement, take out the worn-out washer out of the faucet and use it for reference.
