What is exterior primer used for?

Exterior primer is used as a first base before painting outdoor surfaces, to make sure exterior paint applies evenly and is long-lasting.

What is the difference between interior and exterior primer?

Exterior primer is designed to resist moisture, UV light, and extreme temperatures. It can be used indoors and can be helpful in high-humidity areas like laundry rooms and bathrooms but is best used outdoors.

Do you always need primer for exterior paint?

Since the layer of primer protects the surfaces you're painting and also enhances the coverage and durability of the paint on top, it's a recommended step in any serious outdoor painting project. Primers can prevent blistering and peeling, mold and mildew, so you can maximize the time between repainting.

What is rust primer?

Rust primer is designed to coat bare metal to prevent rust. Some rust primers can be applied to rusted and pitted surfaces to prevent the spread and growth of rust.
