Burning Plastic smell and taste horrible

Smells like burning plastic when in use and food tastes like it smells. First time I turned it on the whole house filled with the smell and lingered for days. Have washed it inside and out multiple times, heated it empty, tried everything I can think of or was suggested to me and it is still very unpleasant. Have used it more than a dozen times now and it is still off gassing and food still tastes like burning plastic. Warranty is Exchange Only and I sure don't want another one.

I had some problems figuring out how to get it working- a bare minimum of instructions came with the item. I wish there were more time divisions on the time knob. But the dimensions were the best I could find for my kitchenette counter, and I’m managing the cooktime okay, but only because this is not my first air fryer.

Q: Can I reasonably cook 4 chicken breasts or two steaks? And I guess enough fries for two people for dinner?

A: You could probably cook four chicken breasts or steaks if they were not too large. Fries would have to be cooked serperately. I bought this unit and it works very well but not big enough for cooking for more than 2 people.
