This kettle seemed to be an excellent choice and size for my relative’s dorm room. However, after a year of use the automatic turn off switch stopped working. It wasn’t obvious so it was left on. Unfortunately, the light goes off so you assume it’s off until two days later I smelled something burning in the room. Upon investigation I noticed the kettle was hot and of course all of the water was boiled out. Very dangerous fire hazard.

I've had this kettle a little under 5 years and should have replaced it then. It is a kettle yes, It does boil water yes, so I've kept it. But with almost 5 years of the loudest boil I've heard followed by every pour leaking water unless the lid is a certain way, I'm tired of it. Obviously the price is cheap and for a dorm or first moving out it is probably great. But using it multiple times a day every day has become something I dread. I don't like creating waste in the environment so I've kept it. The cord is also short which keeps the counter clean but it a pain for pouring or having to clean it out.

No, I do not recommend this product.

A: There is no indication on this kettle about BPA in the plastic. Most other models now tell us if they are free of BPA. For that reason I have returned my kettle.

A: This electric kettle draws 1000W at maximum power so you would need a power inverter rated for at least 1000W. We would recommend a 1500W inverter to be on the safe side.
