I bought this same Paderno frying pan about 3-4 years ago and felt it was time for a new one. Compared to the new one, the 'old' pan was slightly wider and had an extra piece of metal/aluminum adhered to its bottom, making it a more ridge and heavier fry pan. The new pan does not have this extra piece of metal...:O( Cost wise, I paid the same 'sale' price as in the past. Ultimately, I think this is yet again an example of 'shrinkflation' .
