This is rated for a far smaller home than ours, we thought it would be perfect for our bedroom, darned thing keeps the whole home at 19c no matter outside temp. Our house is 1700sq ft! Not a fiar expectation, but man are we comfy :)

So far this is a very good A/C. It replaced a 15 year-old Gree which was using a lot of electricity but not making much cold air anymore (probably needed a recharge but nobody does that). The dual-hose design of this unit is quite efficient allowing it to cool a room quickly without a whole lot of bluster. My place just got all new windows, so the old single-hose Gree was having a tougher time finding make-up air. The Media is also very quiet and throttles back as it approaches the desired temperature–my old Gree hardly ever achieved the temperature I set, even though it was a higher BTU–hence, I generally just leave this Midea on all the time and it just turns itself on when it is needed. I haven't had the Midea long enough yet to see if my energy bill is lower. And, hopefully, it will continue to cool as well as it does not for a couple years to come.

A: The fan and compressor speed are variable (inverter drive). However, the unit will still turn on/off if the minimum speed provides more cooling than is required. To make the noise more constant, you can optionally enable "continuous fan" mode so it will leave the fan running when the compressor turns off, and it's also possible to select a fixed fan speed.

Q: I am having issues with the thermostat, is anyone else? The thermostat on the unit cools off much faster than the room temp so the unit stops cooling. This is my first portable AC unit, is this typical?

A: The thermostat built in to the unit can only measure the temperature near the unit, so this sometimes happens. To solve this, you can enable the "comfort sense" feature on the remote - then the temperature will be measured by the remote and transmitted to the air conditioner. See the user manual for instructions.
