Not compatible with mastercraft 20 volt system

Either the advertisement is not clear or I missed it somewhere, but this system is not interchangeable with the mastercraft 20 volt lithium battery system. I'm bringing the drill back for a refund without even using it!

You are correct, the battery packs are exclusive to the brand i.e. the Maximum line of tools, including batteries and chargers, are not compatible with Mastercraft tools, batteries and chargers.

    Don't bother

Absolute garbage, batteries heated to the point of failure after drilling two holes. Drill itself has a pathetic amount of torque and isn't worth using

Please note that tool batteries are shipped xfactory with less than 30% charge for transportation purposes. Please ensure that the battery pack is fully charged before use. If you have a further issue, please contact customer care at 1-888-670-6682 for assistance.

We regret your experience, but your review is difficult to understand. If you have previously purchased and used the comparable national brands you mention, then you would know that the MX drill comes with a metal chuck, while the others do not, they come with a plastic chuck. Also, you would know that the MX drill has a 2Ah battery, while the comparable national brand products come with 1.5Ah batteries or less. The MX drill has been independently tested versus the comparable national brand products and on performance, the MX product at a minimum across multiple test criteria, compares favorably.

    Very durable

It is difficult to respond given the limited comments. National brands have multiple models for the same product type. If you are comparing to an XR series product, that product performs well but retail pricing is very high. If you are comparing to other models, there are a number of considerations. The Maximum model has been tested against multiple models and performance metrics are often more favorable to the Maximum product. also, often national brands will supply a 1.3Ah or 1.5Ah battery. The Maximum includes a 2.0Ah battery, which will always outperform the smaller batteries - btw, the national brand often does not put the size of the battery on the packaging. Ergonomics, balance, and weight add to strong performance metrics for Maximum. A national racing team will only use Maximum products in the pit and in the shop. A property manager this past week told me he has multiple brand options in his tool chest, but Maximum is his default choice when selecting a power tool. Possibly you have not yet given this tool a true opportunity to understand performance.

Q: Are the batteries interchangeable with the Maximum Cordless Impact Wrench (model no. 054-3245-2)?  My husband wants to get all of his power tools so there is no issue with batteries belonging to a particular tool.

    1 Answer

A: Yes, the Maximum batteries will operate all Maximum cordless power tools. You will note that the family of products have similar grey / black colourations and design characteristics. The brand 'Maximum' marking is also consistent between the tools and the battery offers.

Q: can we leave the charger plug in all the time? will it overheat? Once charge can we leave the battery on the charger?

    1 Answer

A: Yes, you can leave the charger plugged in at all times. No the charger will not overheat. The charger is an intelligent charger. If you leave the battery mounted to the charger it will not damage the battery or the charger. The charger senses if there is any charge loss to the battery while mounted for an extended period. It is normal for a battery to lose some power over time when not used and when not in a charging position, e.g. second battery not in use or a battery left mounted to a drill. This loss of power is exaggerated in extreme heat or extreme cold conditions (assuming the battery is not in a climate controlled environment). Batteries left mounted to a plugged in charger will receive a trickle charge whenever they lose some charge - therefore, in this situation, the battery is always fully charged and ready to be used.

Q: can we leave the charger plug at all time or will it overheat? Can we also leave the battery in the charger at all times. Diane M I just purchase for Father's Day the maximum 20 volt cordless/driver model 054-1349-8. Can I leave the charger plug in at all times? Can I leave the battery in the charger at all times? Q: Can you get a car charger for it? 12v

    1 Answer

A: A specific Maximum accessory for 12V car charging is not available. You may wish to check out the various Inverters that are available through Canadian Tire's automotive assortment. However, no inverter has been specifically tested with the MX 20V products and so it is not possible to guarantee that any specific item will provide the application you are seeking. Therefore, you would apply it at your own risk and any warranties related to the 20V products would be void if the tool became damaged or caused damage to other items.

    1 Answer

A: The battery platform of the 20V Maximum is not the same as the 20V Mastercraft program. A new 20V Maximum circular saw and a reciprocating saw will be available in stores shortly.

Q: Charger indicator lights Just bought. Battery lights indicate 4/4 or 3/4; charger lights = nada. Instructions say charger lights should signal 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3. Anyone have an oddball charger? Or is this junk? thanks

    1 Answer

A: When you first plug in the charger it completes a self-diagnostic and no lights appear. After several seconds, the diagnostic is completed and the lights of the charger will flash on, stay a few seconds and then shut off, so that no lights are illuminated. Similarly, when the battery pack is properly mounted to the charger, it will complete a diagnostic of the battery to assess if the battery can hold a charge. This again will take several seconds but with no lights illuminating. Once the diagnostic is completed it will begin charging the battery. If the battery has a near full charge the lights will not go in sequence of 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3 but will rather flash 2/3 and 3/3 or simply stay on at 3/3. If your charger is not performing in this fashion and you have already verified that the electrical cord is properly inserted and the battery is properly mounted then it may be that the charger is not functioning properly although 100% of the chargers are fully tested prior to packaging. If you continue to experience difficulty, we suggest you take the charger back to the store and they will check it or replace it for you.
