The ice storage area is not refrigerated. It is intended that ice produced be periodically transferred to zipperlock bags for storage in a conventional freezer.

To make firmer/larger/drier ice, use colder water. Tip, let the first couple of batches of ice fall into the water reservoir to chill the water. CurtisInt

Amazing counter top ice maker

I was hesitant when my husband came home with this. We needed lots of ice for a couple of specific reasons and buying ice is approx $6/bag. So we gave this a go. It’s a small unit, sits on the counter top and produces about 10 small cubes per cycle. It’s actually nice to have ice at the ready for drinking , smoothies etc. Once the compartment is full, we add to a ziploc in the freezer to collect for other uses. I wasn’t on board with this at the beginning but actually love having it now. I’m not going to say it’s noisy, but it isn’t quiet . The fan to keep the machine & ice cool runs with a gentle hum.

A: Yes. You just leave the ice in it. Some will eventually melt and then it just goes through the cycle again of making new ice. I love it. One of the best summer purchases k e made.
