This unit provides the maximum 1500 Watts of instantaneous radiant heat. The heat coverage is about 8 x 8 feet. You should feel the heat with heater hung over a table. Your unit might be defective since you don't feel the heat. Please take the unit back to th store for an exchange. Energplus
