Needed something for a small closet (43 inch wide closet) I just put the shelves against the side wall with the double bars going across to the other wall. It worked well. Didn't need to cut bars..actually had to extend the bar a couple inches to fit.

Works and Looks Great

Small closet 37"W x 29"D. I cut the wider bars to fit and drilled the locking holes at the end. Painted 2 coats latex on the underside of the shelves as they are unfinished. I went from 37" of hanging space to 48" total with both bars as well as all that shelving. This closet is against an outside wall so I installed it with air flow in mind. It's a little extra tool work but the results are so worth it. Will be buying another one for my other small closet.
