The Cap Barbell Dumbbell Weight Set is a portable dumbbell set that includes star-lock threaded dumbbell handles and collars, cast iron dumbbell plates, and a carrying case. The star-lock dumbbell handles and collars allow quick and easy weight plate changes that always remain snug and secure during training sessions. The cast iron weight plates include 2.5 and 5 lb. increments which can be used to build 10, 15, and 20 lb. dumbbell pairs, or a single dumbbell up to 35 lbs. The convenient plastic carry case is moulded on the inside to the shape of each set component and keeps everything organized and in place when traveling.

Q: Since there are two handles, what is the maximum weight that I could fit on 1 handle? (is it the handle + 30 Lbs?) Because when you look at the photo of the box, the 8 weights don't seem to fit on 1 handle.

A: I bought extra 10 lb plates with this set (12 actually) I can get 6x 10 lb plates plus either 2 of the 5lb or 2 of the 2.5lb from this set. the 5 lb plate from this set is actually a touch thicker than the 10's I bought. separately so if I had 8x 10lb plates they would all fit (4x per side) on one of the handles and still have room on the spinner to keep it safely in place.

Q: If I understand, there are 4 x 2.5 Lbs, 4 x 5 Lbs, which make 30 Lbs. I am wondering if the handles are 5 Lbs each?

A: 2 spinners plus the bar probably do add the extra weight to bring it to 40... but I have not tried weighting just the handle and the spinners... it doesn't feel like 10lbs but it could be close I guess.

A: The set has 40 lbs... so if you put 2x 5lb and 2x 2.5 on each side of 1 of the handles it would be 30'lbs of added plates.. the bar and spinner makes up the remaining weight I guess. I managed to put 3x 10lb plates plus 1x 5lb plate on each side of one of the handles so it held 70 lbs in total (not including spinner and bar weight) you could easily get 4x 10lb plates on each side of one handle to get it to 80 lbs of added weight... per handle bar but you would have to buy those extra plates ( I bought 12x of the 10lb plates at the same time as this kit so I can go as heavy as I care to go at home)

Q: I cannot tell in the picture, but it is possible to have 25 and 25 on each handle?

A: you could as long as it is a Standard hole (smaller) plate. it would be awful to use 25's on it though. I bought this set and then got 12x 10lb plates also sold at Canadian Tire. I put 3 10lb plates and 1 5lb plate on each side of one of the handles so it held 70 lbs total on one handle and got the spinner on with some space left over. it is much nicer to use a bunch of 10's than the larger diameter 25's on dumbbells to get the weight...

Q: Where can I find additonal weights for this? Do I have to find something from the same company or can I buy the Alex Cast Iron Weight Plates?

A: I bought this set for the handles and the 1/2 and 1/4 sized plates... I then bought 12x of the 10lb Alex cast iron plates also from Canadian tire. Alex Cast Iron Weight Plate Product #84-0042-0 I could easily fit 4 of these 10lb plates on each side of one of the handles and get the spinners on with a little safe room left over. This set with the individual plates were a good combo for me

A: about 13 1/2 to 14 inches long. Basically long enough to put 4x plates per side of one handle if they are average size plates for 10lbs size or smaller and still get the spinners on with a little left over. I tried 4x 10lb plates per side of one handle... to get 80 lbs on one handle also tried or 3x 10lb plus 1x 5lb as well as 3x 10lb plus 1x 2.5lb plate on each side of one handle and it worked for me to get 4 plates of my chosen size on each side of 1 grip.

Q: Dumbell Handle Specifications The description advises that the set includes: 2 x 1" Threaded Dumbbell Handles. How long are the handles? Are they chrome? Do they have textured hand grips?

A: I just measured mine and the inside of the case that held the handle bars tightly is about 14" so the actual bars are actual in the 13 1/2 to 14 inches long The case they sit in is not even 16" long unless you measure the outside of the case with the bars inside and include part of the case handle Not sure where they got 16 inches from

A: yeah, you can put these plates on a "Standard" bar They will not fit an Olympic bar which has the bigger hole in the middle I also bought 12x 10 lb plates for use with these handles... they fit at least 6x 10lb plates and either 2x of the 5lb plates or the 2x 2.5lb plates from this set. I don't think I could get more than 4 plates and the collar per side of each handle though... but few people need that much

Q: Will it be too heavy for a customer to carry the dumbell home?

A: the set is about 45 or 50 lbs total in the case and it is a fairly small case with a sturdy handle. If you can manage one of those big water dispenser bottles for a water-cooler then this should be easy with both hands if you aren't a weight lifter yet. I managed it fine with one hand up 4 flights of stairs in my condo... but then my grip strength is not too bad... 2 hands will be manageable for most people Or you could drag it.. the case is zip-tied and strapped on top of the case latches so it could take a beating if you had to drag it up or down stairs. :) (alternately you could open it up and take the components out individually in order to carry in)

Q: The box sticker has a warning, in tiny writing, saying this product contains 1 or more chemical which cause cancer and birth defects. Is this true?

A: hahah yeah... I saw that too.... my Clothes iron also says that too (as the cord has lead in the rubber to soften it or something..) Just don't use them in California and you'll be OK :) Really though, It just means there is some lead in the product or another heavy metal like cadmium... California just requires warnings at lower levels than everyone else. Just wash your hands when you are done using them if you are still worried.
