Atlas Universal Dethatcher Replacement Lawn Mower Blade, 16-in

Bought this with hopes that it would last longer than the plastic rake one. Okay wow it works way way better. I only wish the metal rake part was about an inch longer. Then I could set it with my push mower to be a little more aggressive. Are lawn has had nothing done to it for about 6 years so the dead grass is really in there. All in all I’m really happy with it. We also bought a metal hand rake to pair with this and it works great.

It did not work well for me. I lowered the blade one notch at a time and it started scalping the grass but not removing much thatch.

Heads up people - this will not fit on my 40V Ryobi mower. I know it is made for gas mowers only but thought to give it a try. The blade is too thick and incompatible with the Ryobi blade mounting assembly. Looks really well made though and I liked that the springs are bolted on with lock washers . Too bad Ryobi doesn't offer the same type of blade.

Works great as expected.

This classic spring style dethatcher works exacting as it should. Replacement spring tines are available should one ever break. Used this 16 inch model on my toro 22 inch push mower. Set the mower on a lower setting as to let the spring tines really scratch into the ground. I went over my yard once at a normal walking speed with the mower discharge closed (with discharge shoot removed). Then attached my mowers bagging attachment and vacuumed up 4 giant sized garbage bags worth of old dead thatch. The yard hadnt been dethached in 3 years and after some water and fertilizer looks much healthier than in years prior. We had priced out having someone do this and even the cost of renting a dethacher but for the price of this product and how powerfully it works when attached to a normal push mower I believe its hands down the best resulting job for the money invested. The only side note i have is do mot stay in one place while its running for any longer than about 5 seconds or you will cut a very nice deep circle in your lawn where you stopped. Also the attaching instruction suck and I had to slightly file out the hole in one of the bushings that came with it so my attaching bolt fit through it. Ither than that its awesome.
