Lousy shredder - don't buy

This is a lousy shredder -- it jammed frequently and is hard to clear, would not shred garden trimmings like gladiola leaves. Returned it for refund after trying it for one day.

Absolutely useless

It was useless. I returned it. The feeder spout is so small it would take me 100 years to chop up my leaves.

ok, but not good and really slow

I had some light bush clippings and tree trimmings to chop so I bought this unit. I would not recommend it. a) it's VERY slow. a modest pile of small branches took me 3 hours to chop up b) I constantly had to take the top off to clean it out. The screw to open it takes 25 turns to open. Seriously, what a pain in the a.., c) I had to sharpen the blades 3 times. it's just not a well built unit. At times, after I sharpened the blades, it worked ok so I will give it a 2, but that didn't usually last long.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Yard works wood chipper YF8010

I am using it at the cottage where I have a lot of dead branches on the ground and on trees and use the machine to reduce the amount of branches I have to take to the town dump. In less than four hours, which includes learning how to operate the machine, clear out a jam branch I was able to fill a brown leaf bag and reduce the branches collected to a bile I can take to the dump in one load in my SUV. Left overs were all over 1-1/2 inches in diameter. I am pleased with my purchase.

Q: Can this shredder good for straw bales?

3 Answers
  • A: I haven't used it for straw. It should work if you'd don't pack it too tight. I used it to shred veg. garden waste. It got jammed easily with that.

Q: Would this shredder work on green garden/ flower bed  waste like perennials you cut back at end of season or spring cleanup?

3 Answers
  • A: Yes, as long as the garden/yard waste has been dried out a bit, it works great for small yard waste. Its very loud though and may spit a few pieces of waste back out at you, best to wear protective eyewear, ear plugs and gloves.

  • A: Le produit n'a pas été conçu pour broyer l'herbe, nous ne recommandons pas aux clients de l'utiliser pour l'herbe, car l'herbe risque de bloquer le produit.

Q: will it shred freshly cut branches from a cedar hedge about 1.5 inches thick ?

3 Answers
  • A: 1.5 inches is the maximum diameter you can fit through it so I would say no. It would definitely struggle with a branch that size. The biggest I’ve used it for is sunflower stalks, which it shred easily but that is nothing like solid wood.

Q: Will this shred blackberry bushes or brambles? Some have been cut for an extended period, but have remained outside.

3 Answers
  • A: Yes. Shrub and small tree branches work fine, but the drier the pieces are, the easier they are to process. I use mine for thorny Goji branches all the time. As many others have said: this easily clogs when shredding moist material, no matter how you do it.

Q: How are the results for leaves and kitchen fruit and vegetable waste??

3 Answers
  • A: Don't know about kitchen scraps. But when I was using it for branches of Western red cedar, I notice the blades get stuck more often when doing softer wetter leaves as oppose to chopping up firm dry finger thick woody twigs.
