Don't think this carries PTFE anymore.

I purchased a new can (item # 02209) that is supposed to have PTFE in it. There is no indication on the can or in the downloaded MSDS that this product still contains PTFE. Item number is the same on the old can, that clearly states that it contains PTFE. I will have to test for differences from old to new can.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can this be used on wood? Is it greasy?

A: I haven't used it on wood. I used it to lubricate my sliding mitre saw, the saw wouldn't rotate so I used this product to lubricate the turning mechanism (metal and aluminum). It solved the problem and the mitre saw rotates. The product is not greasy.

A: The WD-40 Specialist Dirt & Dust Resistant Dry Lube has a registration of NSF Category H2 (#146856). This identifies that this product is acceptable as a lubricant where there is no possibility of food contact (H2) in and around food processing areas. Such compounds may be used as lubricants, release agents, or anti-rust films on equipment and machine parts in locations in which there is no possibility of the lubricant or lubricated part contacting edible products.

A: Yes, our WD-40 Specialist® Dry Lube with PTFE can be used for this application, as it provides superior lubrication and long-lasting corrosion protection with no oily residue. It is best used where cleanliness and maximum performance are required, as it dries quick leaving behind a lubricating film that resists dirt, dust and oil buildups. In addition, it is effective in temperatures ranging from -50°F to 500°F.

Q: What is the freezing point of this lube? Does it contain silicone or just teflon?

A: The WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube product contains no silicone. It has PTFE and a proprietary (non-silicone) additive for extreme pressure lubrication. The pour point (the temperature at which fluid motion of the material is essentially stopped) has not been determined for this product. However, the product is mostly heptane, which has a point point of <-50C. The temperature range for use of this product is from -45.5C to 260C (-50F to 500F). For this product, which is designed to evaporate quickly, the fluid will take longer at low temperatures to dry completely. Please note that spraying the product at very low temperature will give you a much weaker spray than spraying at room temperature as an example.

A: This product has never been tested for firearm applications, and therefore we can not recommend it due to liability issues. In terms of temperature range, this product performs within the range of -45.5C to 260C (-50F to 500F).
