A: You can operate left or right handed. Place the product on a flat surface & firmly grip the handle in one hand. Hold the knife with your forefinger on the back of the blade placing the blade edge vertically into desired groove. Place heel of blade in slot. Lightly pull knife from heel to tip of blade. Repeat 15-20 times. For scissors, place both blades fully through the sharpener unit, and while applying even pressure, close the blades together. Repeat until desired sharpness achieved.
