Not For Automotive Use, Sold In The Automotive Section

Bought this kit, from the automotive section of my store, got it home, and the hose had the wrong connector. While looking through the box in hopes of finding an adapter, I noticed the words NOT FOR AUTOMOTIVE USE printed on the cans and the box… Returned, and refunded. Shame on me for not reading the label, shame on Canadian Tire for selling this in the automotive section.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My SUV's AC stopped working and my garage filled up the refrige. About a week later on a Friday the AC wasn't working again. Of course all of the the garages were closed and it was Louisiana kind of hot out. A wonderful employee innthe automotive section made sure I picked up the correct items and I was out and refilling the refrigerant within 15 minutes

Q: Where to connect the rechargable set to prevent mentioned problems? See picture. I think the problems mentioned are related with the connection of the rechargable set. Can somebody show in the picture wich one is the LOW pressure connection to attach the REDTEK connector? The 2 connectors (LOW & HIGH) in the AC unit are similar.

Q: No instruction for guage. Do I use outer most Blue numbers? What is the inner most R22 green numbers for?

2 Answers
  • A: Use the blue scale second row of numbers in. The max pressure with the compressor running should not exceed 70 psi or the system may ice up when hooked up to the low pressure cold line. The other line may run up to 300 psi but you should nor test it with this gauge. The high oressure line will be warm to hot to the touch when the compressor is running.

  • A: Vous n'avez pas besoin d'un permis pour l'achat. Cependant, votre système doit être évacué du réfrigérant par un professionnel, et les fuites doivent être réparées avant la charge avec le 22a.
