Amaryllis kits.. complète disappointment. Unusable.

Very disappointed .. dried up and disease with Red Blotch Fungus.Had to discard. Total waste of $$ and gas. Ordered 4 .. upon pick up found 2 were obviously damaged… refunded. Took 2 . upon reaching home, saw that they were diseased. Discarded.

I bought them for a friend to give away as gifts so can’t really comment. They had all started in the package and bud was forming. I heard that a couple of recipients were really pleased.

the one I bought at Save-on Foods came with a decent plastic pot and a tray, the ones at Canadian Tire are in flimsy plastic pots no tray large holes in the bottom of the pot dirt will fall through, will probably return them to the store, Paid the same price

Waste of Money

This was a complete waste of money, it obviously is a dud. Nothing has grown and the bulb is totally brown and the roots where about 4" long and dried out. I had purchased another one from a different store for less money and it is about 10" tall with a huge bud that is about to bloom.

Q: How big is the bulb? Diameter please. It says "oversize", but no mention of actual size.

A: Oversize is not a good guide for bulbs. This was a gift for one of my sisters, the bulb was approx. 10cm/4" and you would expect larger amaryllis to be about 10-12cm/up to 5" - of note, I bought 4 amaryllis via CT last fall, one was incorrect colour (but still gorgeous), all grew and bloomed in 4 different houses. The price point on these is decent, and they were available at time when many were sold out.
