    Poor quality

I am now in my third season with these beds (I have 8 of them). I have found them to be of poor quality. The boards warp over time, and the pegs are not long enough and sturdy enough to hold the boards in place - specially if they're doubled up for more soil depth. The metal frames with netting (to keep animals out) are flimsy and poorly made. I believe they're made in the USA which used to be an indication of quality. Not any more.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    quick and easy to assemble

I bought two kits and used them to make one larger sized raised bed. Using a mallot, I was able to quickly assemble the parts to make the beds. I needed a second person to help me to carry the assembled beds over to the small trench I dug to place the beds in as they seemed wobbly when I tried to carry them on my own. The size is just right and I am able to reach all parts of the bed to plant, weed, etc. So far so good.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Does the job...

I purchased 2 of these kits when they were marked at $39. I was doing a major overhaul on my small rental yard and was hoping to plant vegetables in raised garden beds. The cost of cedar was astronomical for the extensive plans that I wanted to make. I checked Canadian Tire and found these, figured that they would work well for at least one garden season. Upon removing the product from the boxes, there was noticeable damage to one of the composite boards. Rather than the hassle of returning the item ( I do not drive) I decided to place that particular board at the rear of the garden box. The instructions could have been written in a different language as I could not make heads or tails of them. (I am normally the go to person for assembling stuff) After attempting 3 times at putting them together like a jigsaw puzzle, I settled on 2 separate boxes rather than 1 deeper raised garden. Vegetables are planted and I wait to see how they do.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Does this garden bed have a bottom? I'm looking for ways of gardening on my balcony, so this would only work for me if it is fully closed on the bottom.

    • A: Maybe you could set it on top of a piece of plywood which is cut to size, and then line the garden bed with some landscape fabric before adding the earth. It would be easy to disassemble in the fall, just remove the earth to a bin or what have you, fold up and discard the fabric, then disassemble the bed components and store it all -including the plywood- in your basement or shed till next year..
