Was in need of a compressor to run my iwata spray gun. This one does it well. When
it kicks on, it fills the tank quickly and then stops. If i were to have a criticism, i do find it a bit louder than my smaller compressor, however, the short run time makes it not an issue. I would recommend this compressor for the DIY person. One thing to remember though, you will need to factor items like 20 amp 2 pole breaker, regulator/dryer and hoses into your purchase price

A Sanborn painted Red

I was shocked and disappointed to read the back of the Porter Cable owners manual to see, "Manufactured by Sanborn Mfg". It looks identical to the model that Princess Auto sells.
Save yourself $100 or $150 and buy one at PA. Mine leaked air at the pressure valve.... just like the Sanborns are reported to do. Now I have to pay a guy to return it as no repairs are done on site.
It might be a good compressor....

A: Does your car start below zero? Yes? lol That's because oil is designed NOT to freeze. Depending on the oil in the air compressor should be fine to -10. 10W40 is fine in an air compressor. And in fact air is denser when it's cold - you'll actually get better performance.

Q: What is the width of a pad i would need to set this on and bolt down. somebody told me 31". so i was wondering if it would fit a 40" cement slab 4" deep and bolt it down ?

A: Yes, the Porter Cable 60 gallon air compressor can be used to paint a car, but depends on the type of spray gun used and how much you’re spraying at one time. A conventional LVLP (low volume low pressure) spray gun consumes on average 5 – 7 scfm. An HVLP (high volume low pressure) spray gun consumes on average 10 – 14 scfm. With a conventional LVLP spray gun, you can continuously spray without running out of air, while an HVLP may start to run out of air if spraying continuously. With a pump output of 11.5 scfm and the volume of a 60 gallon tank, you will more than likely run out of paint in an HVLP spray gun well before running out of air. The compressor would recover in the time taken to refill the spray gun. We would recommend you install an inline filter in your compressed air system as well as a disposal inline moisture filter at the gun to capture any contaminates in the air hose. All air tools have listed the air consumption they require to operate. Please review this information on the spray gun you have or plan to purchase. The air delivery for this compressor is rated at 11.5 SCFM @ 90 PSI and 13.4 SCFM @ 40 PSI. If you plan to use any air tools simultaneously, please add those air requirements together when considering what size air compressor to purchase.
