Worked well

It was about 6C outside. I keep the vehicle running during the process with the windshield vent on maximum heat. Followed the directions. During the compression process I put a lighter to the inside of the windshield to draw more resin in. At about the 20 minute mark of compression it did spring a leak but the chip was already satisfactorily filled. Finished the full 30 minutes of compression. It was dark outside already for the curing process so used a black light to assist in the curing. The trick in getting a smooth finish is scrape the resin close to the impact zone and then turn the blade 90 degrees vertical and scrape the rest off. It filled the chip to a satisfactory result

Yes, I recommend this product.

It didn't work for me.

I follow the instructions "to the letter" but the liquid did not seem to solidify and I'm still left with a partial hole.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear your experience did not meet your expectation. When using the Permatex Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit it is important to consider the scope of the repair in terms of the size of the chip, star or bullseye and that the intent is for the product to repair and prevent further expansion. However, if the size of the damage to the windshield is greater than 3cm, the product may not work/will not work as expected. Thank you

Good product for one rock chip. Works well. Saves the huge cost of a replacement windshield.

Complete kit for chip repairs

The kit is similar to professional glass repairs I have seen done. The kit has complete instructions and all needed items. FYI- the temperature should be well above 10C to set the filler liquid. It also needs sunlight UV to cure, or it will take much longer than the hour listed in instructions. I did the repair inside my garage at 9C using a hair drier to warm the windshield and kept the car inside due to cloudy conditions. The final outcome was an invisible repair that should be permanent.

Questions

1 - 10 of 15 Questions

Q: Can it do multiple repairs? Are the materials re-usable if you have more than one chip to repair at the same time?

  • A: I actually fixed two in one day. You only have 0.7 mL so don't be wasteful and load too much in at once. I found that repeating the syringe steps twice gave me a good fill and if it's not sunny the stuff won't set.

Q: Will this work on side mirror cracks

2 Answers
  • A: Probably not. The epoxy relies upon the suction created by the syringe under the applicator pad to spread throughout the crack. If the crack spreads beyond the edge of the pad, it will likely seep out of the crack or draw air into the syringe. This kit is designed for small stone chips that can be covered by the applicator.

Q: Can this product be used outside on a sunny but freezing winter day? Will the resin set when the temp is -20?

  • A: According to the instructions, no. If I recall correctly it says 5’C.

Q: Does this repair a crack in a windshield or just a chip.

  • A: I think it will only work for a chip because the piece that sticks to the window isn’t that big and you can only use it once

  • A: Hello Angela, thank you for your question. The excess adhesive can be removed by using the edge of the supplied Safety Razor to gently scrape away rough spots. For a demonstration, go to this YouTube video and skip to 3:50 time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eupXcI8hH8. Thank you again for your question.
