Excellent toaster, digital dial, even heat, great quality

Nice looking toaster, and seems to be good quality. It's a little bigger than my last toaster, little taller and wider, so if space is an issue it's a little larger for a 2 slicer. There aren't a lot of controls on this toaster, it has a cancel button, bagel, defrost and reheat or warm buttons. The control knob just seems to just increase the count down timer, I am not sure it really increases the heat intensity as the toast doesn't seem to heat up any faster, the timer is just on for longer. Panderno's claim to even heat seems largely true. Although the burner elements themselves don't seem to heat up evenly, the toaster heat seems well balanced and the resulting toast is pretty even compared to most toasters I have had. The flips side to this, is that toasting seems to take a lot longer to brown. At least double or maybe triple of my last toaster. If you're in a hurry, it may be a little frustrating. For the most part it hasn't been an issue. The other downside to taking longer, is that if your bread is fairly dry, or you use thin slices, then you will end up with dry hard toast. Overall a pretty good toaster. I got this toaster on sale so think it was quite a good purchase. After all the years of toaster manufacturing it still surprises me that you can't get a nice looking, good quality toaster, that browns evenly (in a reasonable time), and one that lasts for more than a few years. Not really a complaint against Paderno specifically as this seems to be an industry norm. Paderno at least can get some credit for producing a good machine with even toasting.
