Bad buttons, bad device

Don't waste your money. Cheaper options are much better. As noted in other reviews, the buttons are hard to push and unresponsive. That renders this device useless.

Good Design (Fixed Probe, CR2032, Good Readability)

Used this unit for approximately a month now after my previously used thermometer which has a probe that swings out failed to turn on due to corresponding internal rotary switch issue. Temperature indication on this unit is easy to read even with dim lighting. Glad that unit uses very common CR2032 button battery type. Indication suggests that battery will likely last quite long. Only thing that would possibly make it better would be if holder was magnetic which would allow it to be affixed for easy access (e.g. onto refrigerator, stove or BBQ).

Buttons take some getting used to.

The thermometer itself works fine- accurate temp and pretty fast- but the buttons are awkwardly placed on the side of the unit so you need to hold it really tightly and push quite hard. There is no "click" to tell you if the button has been pressed so you just hope your finger is in the right place and press. You get used to it but it's a learning curve for sure.

A: The thermometer cover is designed to go on 3/4 of the way then you need to put a bit of pressure for it to go on the whole way. The reason for this is for the cover not to fall off when you put it away in your drawer.
