Product Details

Maintain water levels in basements and sump pits with the Mastercraft Cast Iron Column Sump Pump, 1/3 HP. Designed for permanent installation, this electric sump pump is ideal for emptying narrow basement sump pits that need frequent drainage. Powered by a 1/3 HP motor, this pedestal sump pump has a maximum flow rate of 3000 GPH (11,363 L/h). Built-in thermal overload protection prevents the motor from overheating by switching off the sump pump before damage is caused. The non-submersible design allows for easy servicing and repair, while the metal switch arm provides added strength. The permanent split-capacitator motor has lower amperage, which keeps the motor cooler and helps with longevity. Stainless-steel and cast-iron construction lends durability to this basement pump by helping to prevent rusting and corrosion. Additionally, the stainless-steel shaft prevents corrosion and breakage, adding resiliency to this water pump for basement. The automatic, adjustable float switch turns the pump on and off at a predetermined water level. The cast iron base provides added strength and support, while the stainless steel impeller resists clogs and handles solids up to 3/16” (0.5cm) in diameter. A top suction design eliminates air locks and clogging from the bottom of the sump pit. A screwdriver, hacksaw, tape measure, rigid pipe, tongue and groove pliers, zip ties, cement, and a check valve (sold separately) may be required in order to install the pump. This product includes a 10’ (3m) power cord.

    Great sump pump

Pump works great and the float system works way better than the floating one that gets caught if drops in wrong spot I highly recommend this type over the floating ball

So quiet you have to put your hand on to be able to tell if its running. Lots of flow.

Broke in less than half an afternoon

I wouldn’t buy a Mastercrap piece of machinery ever again. Pump failed me and flooded my basement the same afternoon I installed the machine. This is likely why this item is on clearance. It definitely does not clear water.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Questions

Q: how do you adjust the float on this model? water level is too high - would like to lower water level in crawl space - is there a way to adjust the float so it keeps the water level lower?

    • A: Canadian tire guy's wrong. It certainly can be adjusted. All you need to do is some creative adaptation. The float is a simple process. As the water rises, there is a bobber that ... well....floats. That float has a stick that runs through the middle into the switch itself (the roundish black part attached to the pump with a single screw). As the float reaches the top of the stick it pushes the stick into the switch which turns on the pump. All you need to do to solve your problem is take the rubber stopper off the bottom of the stick (a small piece of rubber under the float), remove the float and add another item above the float (one that is light and floatable and would have a hole in the middle - like a fishing bobber that you drill a hole through). Just make sure it can push the stick into the switch. Now it will just turn the pump on sooner (ie. before the water rises higher).

Q: I installed the pump & it’s not pumping the water out. Once I filled the area where the hose is installed with water and held my palm over it and it started pumping water . 15 min or so the motor stopped. The water level was slightly over an inch.

    1 Answer
    • A: The water will only pump out when the float rises up to a certain level and stop when the float returns to the bottom there will always be an inch left in the bottom
