No Longevity

Had this for about 8 months and it stopped working completely. Click the button to start and it turns off after 3 seconds no matter how you position on the base.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Hot water quickly with pretty blue light

I bought this kettle approx 2 yrs ago and one day the on /off button just stopped working. The spring / gizmo that controls this function just seemed to break.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Reliable and works well

I had this kettle for 4 years. It still worked well until I dropped it and it broke. I have no doubt it would have continued to work well.
The light did stop working at one point. Cleaned regularly with vinegar to remove buildup.
Something that lasts longer than a year or two these days is a big win in my opinion.
Bought another one to replace the broken one.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Do you have to dry it out every time you use it so that water spots and calcium do not build up. If not does it look messy? Does it require special care to clean lime buildup etc because it is glass? I am not good at this high maintenance stuff.

This Oster Cordless Electric Kettle w/ Blue Light does not need a daily cleaning if not used frequently. However, after frequent use, mineral deposits in tap water may cause scale deposits to form inside the electric kettle. To remove this scale build-up, fill the kettle with a solution of 3 cups of white vinegar and 3 cups water. Let sit overnight. Empty the vinegar solution from the electric kettle. Remove any stain remaining inside by rubbing with a damp cloth. Fill the electric kettle with clean water. Place kettle on power base and bring to a boil, then discard water. Repeat and the electric kettle will be ready to use. Hope this information helps you. Have a great day.

Q: Is there any plastic in contact with the water? I need to know if there is plastic in the reservoir. I don't want plastic toxins. BPA free or otherwise it's still heated plastic & while there are few studies on BPA free plastic, some indicate it may be just as bad.

Q: Need a replace filter for the pouring section. Can not get at Canadian tire Ideas?

However, the filter is removable for cleaning. To reduce scale build-up, empty out any residual water after boiling.How often the filter should be cleaned will vary according to where you live and how often you use your kettle. Filter should be cleaned whenever there are noticeable deposits left on the filter and especially if the rate of pouring decreases. Hope this is useful.
