No screen showing the voltage or amps

It works good. I was able to charge my car battery overnight. Only issue for me was there is no screen showing the voltage or amps going to the battery. I paid around $100 for it. Is quite pricey.

    Versatile

Ideal output currents for typical automotive and smaller powersports / utility batteries encountered at home. Benefit of having constant 13 volt output which allows 'awakening' of 0 volt batteries that cannot be charged by most 'smart' chargers. Good quality cables. Quiet. 4-stars because it is missing a 6 volt setting. Cable holder/storage would be nice.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Good for AGM lawn tractor batteries

Bought this to charge the AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery in my lawn tractor that has a recommended charge rate of 1.1A - Can't use a regular car battery charger for those. Works very well. Indicator shows the charging level and if there is an error the lights indicate what the issue is (so keep the manual as the chart in there explains what the flashing lights mean).

Q: Mine doesn't work! The only part that works is the Power Supply mode. Everything else reverts to Reverse Polarity!!! How can I make it work or is it a complete dud that needs to be returned.

    • A: I got my charger working!  I did more research and figured it out.  To get it to charge properly on my 2009 Pontiac Montana, I have to attach the negative cable to the engine strut ground, NOT the battery.  Now it charges properly without the fault light coming on.

Q: Is the power output on this equivalent output to a 12v car battery?

    2 Answers
    • A: Voltage as in 12v to power accessories -YES Power... meaning voltage plus current (Amps) to start a car - NO !! This is meant to slowly charge a battery or power 12v low current accessories. 15A max output and you probably need current of 100 AMPS or more to start a vehicle. Maybe 90 amps for a 3 cylinder Prius? Either way it won't start anything on its own.

Q: Does this have to be plugged in to use? How long does the unit's battery last or how many uses before it must be recharged?

    • A: This unit has to be plugged in to charge the battery, it doesn’t have rechargeable batteries

Q: What charging voltage does is use when setting is set for AGM?  what about the normal flooded battery setting charge voltage?

    2 Answers
    • A: The manual states that for regular 12V battery, charging voltage is 14.4V; AGM battery, 14.8V. BTW, you can download a copy of the manual from the item page for precise details.

Q: can the battery clamp connectors be diconnected and replaced with eyelet terminal connectors on the MotoMaster Eliminator Precision Series Smart Battery Charger/Maintainer, Fully Automatic, 15/1-Amp, 12V?

    2 Answers
    • A: While certainly it is feasible if using eyelets adequately spec'd to support up to 15A DC, altering the unit will void your warranty.

Q: The manual doesn't explain how to tell when the reconditioning mode is done. It just says it can take up to four hours.

    1 Answer
    • A: While Reconditioning the level of charge LEDs blink. When this stops, battery reconditioning is complete.

Q: In recondition mode on discharged battery, correct mode light's on; error light's off; all 4 charge level lights flash simultaneously. Charge holds at 14.2v. What do the flashing charge level lights indicate? Is the <15v charge a battery or charger issue?

    1 Answer
    • A: A normal charge should be done first. Then you can attempt a reconditioning charge. The 4 LEDs will flash while the unit is in reconditioning mode. The reconditioning stage can be a few minutes to up to 4 hours, depending on feedback/behaviour of the battery.

Q: Will this charger charge 6 volt batteries and if so 6 of them in series in a golf cart

    1 Answer
    • A: This is a 12-volt battery charger. It cannot charge 6-volt batteries individually, nor can it charge all six batteries connected in a 48V series. It can, however, charge two 6-volt batteries connected in series (forming a 12V bank). For a 6-volt battery charger, perhaps consider one of the MotoMaster Eliminator Workshop Series battery chargers.
