I only used the straight plier. It got the job done but when clamping the hose clamp, it didn't catch in the final tooth. After I did the job, I brought the pliers to my regular work shop and used a small file to touch up the final tooth. The it grabbed when fully closed.

This plier was recommended by your auto dept to remove the large spring clip on the lower rad hose. It was not nearly strong enough and it actually deformed slightly when I tried to remove the clamp
