Fire EXIT sign bulbs, on all the time, short life span

These bulbs are the ones required for most commercial building fire "EXIT" signs. My experience is that the stores do a good job of keeping these in stock. That is a good thing, because, even with only six in our office unit, they are being replaced regularly. I started keeping track of our use of them, and even recognizing that they are on all the time, I would expect them to last more than 5-6 months.
