    Noma 50 litre dehumidifier

Dehumidifier had ice buildup on the back of the coils in the middle of July. It is now giving me the codeE9. I would not recommend this unit. I wish Canadian Tire would stop selling it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Do not buy - should be recalled

Do not buy this or any other NOMA dehumidifier. You may be happy with it for a few months until it gives you an E9 error code which is not fixable and turns your unit into a brick that doesn’t work at all. Read all the reviews and Google this error. This is clearly a manufacturing defect with all NOMA dehumidifiers. I guess Canadian Tire finds it profitable to sell them though.

    NOMA Dehumidifier

I hope it lasts longer than my last NOMA dehumidifier, it died three weeks before the warranty ran out. I was very lucky that I saved the receipt.

I plugged it in turn and on it started working immediately and it was filling the Bucket with water.

Only had it a short time but seems to do the job.

Not sure how I can give this a proper review as I just got it. It is a replacement for one I got just under a year ago that failed within the 1st year of a 2 year warranty. So far it has been good. Lets hope for the best!!!

    Questions

Q: Hi, Is this unit suited for basements (which is often at lower temperature)? Is there wheel at the bottom of this unit to push it & dump the water?

    5 Answers
    • A: Correction: The unit is rated to run between 3C and 32C which should be fine for most basements. The bucket has a built-in handle which makes it easy to carry. Though the unit can be moved on the casters, there is always the danger of tipping accidentally or water sloshing out, so I wouldn't recommend moving the unit with water in the bucket.

Q: have the 50pt without pump - has worked excellent for 5 months with continuous drain but now requires manual emptying daily - have blowing out hose tried a number of times to no avail - going to try plumbing with larger bore hose unlessget other solution

    • A: I've had similar issues with multiple dehumidifiers. The problem can sometimes be fixed by putting something under the 2 wheels on one side of the unit, to tilt it towards the hose drain.

Q: Why does the website show a 1-year warranty with Canadian Tire and the booklet shows a 2-year manufacturer's warranty that has to be claimed at Canadian Tire? Is it in fact a 1-year or a 2-year warranty?

    • A: I downloaded the manual today, Sep 09 22 and it says 2 year warranty.

Q: I purchased a Noma 50-pint dehumidifier a year ago, and it was working great until the unit started to have a water leaking problem since a few days ago. For some strange reason water keeps leaking from the bottom though the bucket it not cracked.

Q: I have the unit with the pump. I have run the hose to a sink in my basement. Can I leave the pump engaged and it will sense when it needs to pump? I let it run initially until it was full and it seemed to shut off when it was finished.

    2 Answers
    • A: Yes. The unit will sense when it needs to pump based on the water level.

Q: Does anyone know what E9 means my unit after running for awhile this comes on screen. I unplug and replug it in to get it to operate again.

    • A: I googled it. The solution is exactly what you are doing. Do you have a good airflow around the unit because one suggestion is that it’s sensing that the room is too hot?
