Q: Can someone explain exactly how to hook a solar panel to the unit for charging.There are no instructions in the manual.
2 years agoA: Called the company phone number and they say I can charge with solar panel through the positive and negitive boosting pins,but to use a charge controller and to turn booster switch/button on.

Q: How long could you run a 5kwh diesel heater with this power pack with a 12V 20 amp AC to DC converter. They usually draw about 15 amps to start but operate on low around 1 amp
4 months agoA: I've used these packs with diesel heaters before, so here's the breakdown. The 5 kW rating on the heater is for heat output, not electrical draw. Electrically they pull about 12V at 15 amps for a short time on startup, then settle around 1 amp while running on low. The Eliminator PowerBox has roughly a 20Ah (÷240 Wh) battery inside. That's plenty to handle the startup surge, and once it's running you're looking at about 12 watts an hour. In theory, that works out to 15-18 hours, but with conversion losses and cycling you'll realistically get closer to 10-12 hours of continuous run time before the pack is drained. It will work, just don't expect it to run the heater for days on end without a recharge.

Q: Is it possible to charge the unit with solar while it is being used?
3 years agoA: I ran my 50L portable freezer in 12v socket while charging, no problem. Ran freezer at 0C for around 20hrs. Charged from 35 to 100 in around 4hrs with freezer running. I think you just cant use 120v while charging but i haven't tried it yet.

Q: How many hours does the power box run , while in use with of small appliance or lamp.
2 months agoA: The runtime will depend entirely on how much power the small appliance or lamp consumes. A 60W bulb (lamp) might run about 5 hours while a 7W LED bulb (lamp) would run closer to 45 hours.

2 months agoA: Time depends on actual power consumption of the specific tv. A 50" LED tv that draws 75W, for example, will run about 4 hours.

Q: Can you use this to recharge an external 12v 75Ah battery, not to jump it but to charge it.
4 months agoA: Simply connecting the clamps to an external 12V battery will not charge the external battery. The only way to use this (or any other power station) to charge a battery is to use a typical automotive battery charger plugged into the AC outlet of the power station. However, bear in mind that the internal battery of this power pack is rated 33Ah which is less than half the capacity of your 75Ah battery. So, after factoring in a bit of energy loss from converting DC to AC, you could expect to charge your 12V 75Ah battery about 30-40%. Said differently, if you discharged your 75Ah battery no more than the recommended 50%, you could probably get it back up to about 80--90% state of charge with this power pack (and a battery charger).

A: The lifetime of any lead-acid battery depends almost entirely on usage and care. For example, repeated deep discharges and/or leaving the battery in a low state of charge will shorten a battery's life. Or, for example, someone who uses the product every day compared to someone who uses it once a week or one a month may also experience a difference in battery longevity. (This is not an absolute as the person using it every day may follow a proper charging regimen whilst the person using it once a month can't be bother to!) All in all, with typical use and good charging habits, one should expect several years of service from the supplied AGM battery.
