4000w inverter fail

It only reaches 97v ac max with 4 deep cycle 6v batteries configured to 12v dc. will not even run a coffee pot. A smaller 3000w ) product works fine at 120vac runs coffee pot toaster tv and satellite receiver on same batteries.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback. Please note that this product has a modified sine wave. In order to measure output voltage of a MSW you must use a True RMS metre. Your 97 VAC reading is consistent with what one might read, incorrectly, using a non True RMS metre. Please contact MotoMaster at 1-888-942-6686 for technical support.

  • A: I put this on my boat ( yes I know it's not marine rated..I don't care) but it'll run my microwave..induction cooker..keurig..freezer. not all at once mind you. You still have to determine what the draw of the appliances are.

Q: I am interested in getting this for my sump pump. I have two questions. 1 Will it work for a 3/4 HP sump pump? 2 Does it trickle charge the battery? Thanks

  • A: I can't say if it will run the sump pump. It may not be able to handle the power spike at startup. I know that it does not trickle charger the battery.

Q: Can this inverter also convert AC to DC? Can you plug it into a standard AC outlet and recharge the DC battery?

3 Answers
  • A: The Eliminator 4000W power inverter will only take DC power and invert it to AC power. There are some hybrid inverters that exist but this Eliminator is designed to invert only and not convert AC to DC. There is a specific warning in the enclosed instructions to only connect to 12V and NOT connect it to AC.

Q: Will this run a 13500 btu air condintioner?

2 Answers
  • A: A typical 13500 BTU RV air conditioner will draw between 11-15 amps (depending on it's efficiency) or about 1300-1800 watts. That is well within the capability of this inverter. More important is how many amps or watts your AC needs at start up (a.k.a. surge or peak). Typically that's around 3000 watts which, again, is well within the capability of this inverter.

Q: Will this run a hair dryer while dry camping?

2 Answers
  • A: Depends more on your vehicle battery/altenator/cable setup. The inverter will put out 4000watts, your hair dryer is most likely around 1500 watts. At 12 volts your battery, altenator and cables have to be able to carry about 125 amps (watts=voltage x amps)...that's a lot (means you'd need large diameter cables).
