Open The Box In The Store

Finally installed this tank 2 months after ordering it. Had to wait 2 weeks for the original tank to come in. Got it home and it had a large dent in it. Loaded it back up and returned it. The store was able to quickly have a replacement shipped and I was back a week later to pick it up. I decided to open the box there and this one was also badly damaged. I now had to wait another 2 weeks for the store to have another one shipped in. Luckily this one was damage free. I then had to wait just over 3 more weeks to get my installer back who I'd already cancelled twice. The stores staff was great during all this and was very apologetic but we both knew it wasn't them causing the issues. Hopefully the performance of the tank exceeds its shipping and handling issues.

Be careful when you buy a heater. I brought this heater by mistake. Apparently this heater can only be installed in houses with chimneys and can’t be vented out the wall. My house doesn’t have a chimney. I paid up-front for the heater itself plus shipping, and unpacking and installation only to find it was wrong. They wouldn’t allow me to return it because they had unpacked it for me. The manager said it couldn’t be sold and would have to be trashed. (Really?) She refused to refund my money unless I purchased a different unit that cost $600 more

A: The average lifespan of a water heater is 10-13 years. Some last longer, but it depends if it is sized properly for the application, the water quality and if maintenance is completed on the tank.

A: Gas supply and venting must be run to the heater however this is a conventional unit so no electrical power is required for operation.

Q: Does the 63-1180 G6 - 189 litre model Moffat have a brass drain valve? Is it glass lined? Is the 9year warranty (or higher) model available at Canadian Tire?

A: The 0631180 has a plastic drain valve. It is glass lined. It has a 6 year warranty. CTC does sku a 12 year warranty version 631295.

Q: Dues th Moffat G6 41 Gallon Conventional Gas Water Heater 063-1180-4 have a Power Flue Damper ? What is the difference between this model and the Moffat G9 40 Gallon Conventional Gas Water Heater 063-1178-2 ?

A: No, it does not include a power damper. The difference with the 063-1178 and 063-1180 is 9 year warranty, brass drain valve and include a drip tube, versus the 6 year warranty and neither of those two additions.
