Check operation before installing

I bought this hose real after watching it for a few years and when it finally went on sale, I pulled the plug. I didn’t get around to installing it until two years later. I was disappointed when it didn’t retract, but after reading, the reviews felt that it was just an adjustment issue.. When I went to adjust the spring, I was surprised and disappointed that there was no spring. Yes that’s correct. This unit was assembled with no spring in it. There was no spring to adjust. There is no way for it to retract. I contacted customer service as several others had suggested, and was disappointed when they could offer no resolution. So although I got it for 50% off, it was virtually useless to me . So the moral of the story is at least try the stuff when you buy it even if you can’t get around to installing it right away, don’t make the same mistake. I did.

Maximum 3/8" Retractable Hose Reel

Out of the box it's a pretty good piece of equipment. It's design looks good and it feels well made. It locks in place and stays. And retracts like it should. I'm quite happy with my choice of buying this product.

Q: The auto retract reel doesn’t retract. How do you fix this?

A: The increments at which the retracting teeth engage are small. When you pull only pull enough to put slight pressure then slowly release. I had the same issue until I learned this. Of course this is only if in fact the mechanism isn’t faulty
