Is this Polisher Too fast to polish with?

I enjoy many of the Maximum products. This was a reasonable price, on sale, at just a $100. The best polisher / sander is the Makita unit, but it’s over $300. The biggest problem is that this sander does not go slow enough. Says 1000 rpm, but I am not sure it is that slow. Otherwise, robust and tough feeling, really long cord. Very balanced when using it

I have had my polisher for 2 years and used it twice to polish my boat. Went to use it the 3rd time and trigger only works if polisher is upside down. it is unusable very disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 30 Questions

Q: Could it be used to sand deck spindles with 4 inch spacings? This would likely require removing the accessory handle. 1. Would it be safe to use this way? 2. What is the exact height, face of sanding disc to top of tool with handle removed(must be < 4in)?

  • A: Hello Brad! Thank you for your questions. The MAXIMUM 10A Heavy-Duty 2-in-1 Sander/Polisher can be used without the aux handle. However, please be cautious against high speeds and vibrations. As for the exact height, we recommend visiting your local Canadian Tire store for those measurements. -DestyneeE

Q: what's the warranty? Also, can it be locked at a certain RPM?

  • A: Hello McClusky! This model has a 5-year warranty. There is a Lock-On switch that will allow continuous use. To switch it off, just release the on/off switch. This tool is also a variable speed model. The speed will increase as you turn the switch to a higher number and decreases at a lower number. Whatever speed setting the tool is put on, should stay in place throughout use. Product manual also attached for your review. -DestyneeE

Q: Can I wax my truck using the MAXIMUM 10A Heavy-Duty 2-in-1 Sander/Polisher, 7-in

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, this machine can be used to fix scratches as well as to buff/polish your car body. However, you need to be careful because this is a rotary polisher, not a dual action (orbital) polisher. It is easy to burn your car paint if you don't use it properly. I recommend you to do more researches about rotary polisher vs orbital polisher before you start using them.

Q: Where can I buy more 7" hook and loop sanding pads? (I didn't see any in the store, or on your website).

  • A: But those are the only 7" hook and loop discs to be found anywhere, only in 80 grit; and at my local store, only by special order.
