calling this Junk is too flattering

to call this sharpener a piece of junk is an affront to the trash I leave on the curb. I got this as a xmas gift a year ago and used this once to sharpen 6 kitchen knives and the metal flakes glued to the sharpening wheel were wearing off. I call the Mastercraft line to buy a replace wheel and guess what they don't carry it. Its the most expensive single use sharpener that you'll ever buy. Its like buying a car only to find out the tires cannot be changed. Why a reputable company like Canadian Tire would stock a product that is only suited for a landfill is mind numbing.

A: It does hollow grind only. It's a ROUND "wheel" such as it is. A piece of stamped thin metal with a meagre sprinkling of diamond dust.

A: That product isn’t really suitable for sharpening axes or hatches. A grinding wheel would be better. A cheaper solution is this item, which can work well for axes and garden tools: Speedy Sharp, product number 57-8006

A: Yes, it can be used to sharpen cobalt drill bits. For hard metals, it is better with hardness less than 65HRC. Please kindly check the application of this sharpener below: Applications: Drill Bits: 1/8"-3/8" (3-10mm) Chisels/plane blades: 1/4"-2" W Most Knives and scissors.
