Do not buy if you are using mesh sheet tile

I bought this tile saw to do a backsplash using the 12” x 12” sheets. They are very difficult to cut with this saw as the sheet wants to ride up the blade. I returned it and bought the sliding tile saw on top and it worked much better. This saw will be fine if you are doing subway tile or larger floor tile that are solid.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Customer Service with AI Support
Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the MASTERCRAFT 5 Amp Wet Tile Saw, 7-in. This particular tile saw is best suited for solid tiles, such as subway tiles or larger floor tiles. For optimal performance with mosaic sheets or smaller tiles, a sliding tile saw might provide better results. We appreciate your insights and will take them into account for continuous improvement of our products. Should you need further assistance, feel free to contact us directly at 1-800-689-9928. Thank you for choosing MASTERCRAFT.

Bang for the buck for the beginner rockhound!

I bought this on sale to cut some rocks we had gathered rockhounding. Does it have every bell and whistle? No. Are the assembly instructions the best? Also no. But for relatively clean cuts, it does an excellent job. If you're looking for a saw to cut 10000 tiles, this might not be the tool for you. If you have small projects, or want to cut some rocks, this is a great priced tool for the amateur hobbyist!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Defective product - brittle plastic

I bought this saw not expecting very much and I was even less pleased with it once I tried assembling it. The plastic housing that holds the screw to affix the blade/splash guard was cracked and the screw was seized in its bearing. Probably overtightened during product assembly. The instructions clearly state not to use the saw if anything was wrong with it. I returned it but I had to argue that I had not used the saw. Customer service said it was store policy to only issue a store credit once the box had been opened and the product was used. I argued that I was trying to put it together as per instructions and found a defect while doing so and that it had never been used (not even plugged in). After much back and forth, I was refunded my money. This table saw is flimsy and of poor quality - buy something that is made better. I cannot comment on how it works, it was never turned on because the product was not safe. Customer service was terrible when trying to return a defective product. I do not recommend this product.

Intial Unit Damaged.

Annoying that the unit I bought had a crack where the blade guard mounted, so the guard could break free while the blade is spinning. Returned it and they only had one unit left which was repackaged and found out it was slightly used, but I kept it anyways, cause there is work to do.

Questions

Q: Does the water spray up at the user during cutting? I have had experience with my last saw that water would spray up at you during each cut and it was a very similar saw.

  • A: Yes it does spray the operator a bit but you can simply lower the adjustable blade cover to limit this effect. I have the same basic model but with the 4 inch blade. It looks like the 7 inch model is the same configuration.

Q: How to use the extension table? The picture shows the fence is located inbetween the extension table and blade. The tile will not pass through the fence.

  • A: the real answer to this question is that the rip fence does not square itself, resulting in crooked cuts. It also does not clamp firmly enough to the table area to prevent it moving and shifting during a cut. You can move the fence anywhere on the table top you need - but don't, its useless.

Q: Can a person not change out the 7" blade? I would like to cut rocks. I can substitute in a 7" lapidary blade with a 5/8" arbor so that it would fit. Is this not okay? What is motor speed, motor pulley diameter and equipment pulley diameter of the saw?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your question. Yes, you can change out your 7" Blade and replace it with another 7" lapidary blade as long as the arbor size is 5/8". Your saw has an arbor size of 5/8' with a motor speed of 5300 RPM. Please ensure that your blade continues to have good water flow to the blade as your are cutting your material and always follow the user manual guidance.
