Honestly, save your time and money! This double burner is not worth the effort. It would be fine to keep pans at a bare minimum as they won’t boil a pot full of water And they do not heat evenly. My hubby picked this unit up for me when my stove crapped out and I was in the middle of building a salted caramel cake. I needed a burner to run on medium, consistently for about 10 mins to make caramel sauce and when the burners couldn’t boil a pot of water, I knew I was in trouble. Luckily Canadian Tire has excellent customer service and we returned the unit, the CSR believed that it was possible that this unit was defective so they were going to return to the manufacturer on that premise.

The MASTER Chef Double Burner Hotplate features a 600-watt small coil element and a 900-watt large coil element, providing a total of 1,800 watts. While it will meet your basic hotplate needs, it’s important to note that this is a portable appliance and cannot be directly compared to a conventional stove, which operates at a higher voltage and delivers significantly more wattage through its coil elements.
Here's a few tips to get the best from a portable hotplate. Use flat-bottom cookware for the best heat transfer. Avoid oversized cookware, as it reduces efficiency. Match the cookware diameter as closely as possible to the coil element. Lastly, use a lid whenever possible to help contain heat. CustomerCare

Needed another two burner but with different heats and sizes. This fit the bill perfectly. Have used it a few times and am very pleased with how it cooks.
