Was looking for a Methyl Methacrylate Adhesive for bonding Polyethylene. Ex: Infinity Bond MMA 500, or Sealy SCS 500. You do not carry any product that I could use.

You have to break your fingers to get any out

First of all, it doesn't come out. Even after following the instructions to a T, it's super hard coming out. Secondly, it doesn't seal as advertised. I tried to seal a plastic pipe with a tiny pinhole and it couldn't even do that. Skip this product. They tell you to bring it back to your retailer for a refund, the retailer says you've used it.....bye bye to your cash....

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: I need a product liquid enough to flow into fissures to prevent water leaking. Is this product thin enough? Or is it more like caulking that sits on top? (Item is thick ceramic, always exposed to clean water not for drinking.)

2 Answers
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: Thank you for the question. The LePage Marine Epoxy is not liquid but it does flow in the first 15 minutes of mixing so it may or may not work for you depending upon the size of the fissures you have. The set time is 2 hours keeping in mind it gets thicker after 15 minutes and more difficult to clean up. All you can do is try if so inclined, but you should test the application beforehand to know how it flow and sets.

Q: Can this product be used on a vinyl pool liner?

  • A: The LePage Marine Epoxy is not recommended to be used on a vinyl pool liner. Our epoxies are not compatible with flexible materials. Unfortunately, we have no product to recommend for this application.

Q: Would this work well on a PVC Inflatable boat?

1 Answer
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: Thank you for the question. If the intended application is on the PVC inflatable portion of the boat the LePage Marine Epoxy will not work. Product cures rigid. There are special repair kits on the market designed especially for inflatable boats. LePage does not offer this type of product.

Q: can this product be used to adhere a glass base to a glass to bird bath

1 Answer
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: Thank you for the question. It is very possible the LePage Marine Epoxy will work keeping in mind this epoxy takes up to two to set. Full strength will not be achieved for at least 24 hours which is dependent on temperature, humidity and amount of epoxy used. The successful use will also depend on the amount of available bonding surface

Q: Can LePage Marine Epoxy be used to repair the top dish of a concrete birdbath.  The peices being repaired will be below the water level.  I also want to know if the adhesive would make the water toxic for birds. Thank you.

1 Answer
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: . It is possible to use the LePage Marine Epoxy Adhesive for this purpose. Make sure surfaces are clean, dry, and in sound condition in this situation. Allow epoxy to cured at least 24 hours after which you will need to wash the areas thoroughly with plenty of fresh water before putting it back into service. Keep in mind if the concrete parts show evidence of any deterioration then this product may not work.

Q: Does this product work with fiberglass hulls?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes you can use LePage Marine Epoxy on fiberglass hulls. Product will also cure underwater. I need to point out that on typical fiberglass hulls there are two sides. 1. The inner side, no exposed to the water, cured fully cured fiberglass. This area needs to be roughed up a little, ie. take sandpaper and run it over the area a number of times. 2. The outer side is not fiberglass, its fiberglass coded with epoxy which gives it that nice smooth, shiny finish. Marine epoxy should work but it’s never been 100% tested.

Q: Is this product suitable to fill a seam in a marble countertop?

1 Answer
  • A: 1. LePage Marine Epoxy can be used to fill cracks and chips in marble counter tops with the following limitations: a. The epoxy being hard and rigid is not suitable for moving joints – it will not flex and may cause fracture of the surfaces to which it is bonded if there is any movement b. The epoxy will discolour (yellow) if exposed to sunlight 2. Marine epoxy can be tinted to pastel colours using dry pigments or small amount of universal pigment. Mix the colour into one of the components before mixing parts A and B. Ensure thorough mixing. Test first on scrap for cure and desired colour / finish. If a dark colour is desired (i.e. black one could also blend black pigments into clear epoxy) 3. To ensure a smooth flat finish the cured epoxy can be wet sanded to blend into the surrounding surface – finishing with 400 to 800 grit. Again test finish first with scrap pieces. Sanding may affect the finish of adjacent areas.

Q: Use on pipe joints? I have a water leak around a pipe fitting that is attached to my jet pump that I can't seem to get tight even with teflon tape. If I spread this around the joint, will it seal? There is a slight water seepage so will this adhere to a wet surface?

1 Answer
  • A: We would not suggest trying to fix the leak this way. If there is a small leak and teflon tape is not working then most likely the threads have been compromised somehow. Over tightening can cause this. Our suggestion would be to replace the fittings. That said, LePage Marine Epoxy or our LePage Epoxy Putty can be used but no guarantees that this would work. Water needs to turned off and joints need to be cleaned and dried before product can be applied. Let product cure before water is turned back on.

Q: Need to seal a small crack in the floor of my shower. I want to cut a wider "V" along the crack and fill it with epoxy. Is this product water proof?

1 Answer
  • A: If this is a plastic base  - No.  If the base is concrete or ceramic then yes.  The product is suitable for below water application.
