Product Details

The Great Stuff Big Gap Filler Insulating Foam Sealant comes with an applicator nozzle that helps you seal larger gaps and cracks up to 3 inches wide. The nozzle provides better control and reduces mess, while the foam's elasticity allows for movement and shifting within structures. Falls apart

You can't overtighten the nozzle due to the screw part slipping. This would be fine however it slips too easily such that you can't toghten it enough. It's so loose that the nozzle falls off and it leaks like crazy at the base no matter what you do.

Good for small jobs

On larger volume areas sometimes the expanding foam disables the nozzle connection on the can. I found continuous small movements of the can while dispensing product helped.

Q: Can this product be used with EPS? Example is styrofoam on ICF blocks. I do not want the spray foam to break down the styrofoam. Thanks

  • A: I am not 100% sure if this helps but we did use it to attach rigid Styrofoam to a metal seacan floor. We resorted to this after trying numerous times with the PL products designed for the job and they didn't work. It has held up great so far over the last 3 years. Hope this helps a little.

Q: Is it none toxic to reptiles? If used to make a spray foam backround.

1 Answer
  • A: AI Overview +3 Working with “Great Stuff” Expandable Foam – Dragon Strand Yes, Great Stuff expanding foam is generally safe for reptile background pieces, provided it is a type without toxic additives like pest blockers or mildew inhibitors, and is given adequate time to fully cure. After curing, it must be sealed with an aquarium-safe silicone and covered with substrate to prevent the reptile from ingesting it. Why it's safe Proper Type: Use only the Great Stuff Pond and Stone version or the original Great Stuff (without additives like pest control). Avoid any formulations that contain "pest blocker," "mildewcide," or "fungicide". Full Curing: The foam must be completely cured before sealing. Allow a minimum of 24 hours, and 48 hours is even safer, especially for thicker applications. Encapsulation: After curing, the foam needs to be sealed with a layer of aquarium-safe silicone and then coated with a substrate like coco fiber, bark, or moss. This prevents the reptile from chewing or ingesting the foam itself. How to use it safely Prepare the enclosure: Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol to ensure proper adhesion. Apply the foam: Spray the foam in your desired shape, keeping in mind that it will expand significantly. Cure the foam: Let it cure completely. A full 24-48 hours is recommended, as stated on the can instructions. Carve and shape: Once the foam is firm, carve it into the desired texture and shape using a sharp knife or scraper. Remove loose debris: Use a vacuum or brush to remove all loose foam particles after carving. Seal with silicone: Apply a thick coat of 100% aquarium-safe silicone over the entire carved surface. Black or brown is often used to blend with the foam, says this YouTube video. Add substrate: Immediately press your chosen substrate (like sphagnum moss, coco fiber, or sand) into the wet silicone. Allow it to cure: Let the silicone and substrate layer cure completely, which may take another 24-48 hours, before introducing your reptile.

Q: Can this be used to fill a void underneath a sidewalk?

1 Answer
  • A: This is a more difficult application since Great Stuff uses the moisture in the air to cure. It would not recommended to use this product in that application due the fact that the void is under a sidewalk and not exposed to the outdoor air. Froth Pak would be a better choice since it is chemically cured and not reliant on the moisture in the air. Product # 064-2693

Q: 8x8 concerte wall and I need to put "insulation" to prevent humidity. What will I do, putting 1x3 wood then putting drywall.. after that I use this foam behind the drywall. It will work as the insulation foam? Thanks

1 Answer
  • A: No. You'd be better off buying rigid blue Styrofoam for that application or the proper dual spray foam canisters with spray wand. This spray is better suited for just small gaps or holes.
