These filters are good, but need replacing more frequently than suggested. I find that to be true even with regular cleaning of prefilters.

Allergic Asthmatic with pets and near smokers

My landlord purchased the GermGuardian pet version for me almost 2 years ago now, and I've now put in at least 3 replacement filters over that time. I am thrilled to say that whenever cigarette smoke enters my suite, I can turn this unit on and the filter grabs the smoke and filters it out of the air! We have a medium-haired cat, and whenever he's shedding, the filter traps the cat hair in the filter so there isn't as much in the air! I would recommend this to any one suffering allergies or asthma.
