The best

I got this knife as a gift a long time ago and it held its razor edge for the entire time I owned it which is about 25 years but unfortunately someone broke into my car and stole it over the holidays. I came here to get another one but I guess it’s out of stock, I loved the rubbery grip that you just can’t find. I hope it’s available again soon because I used it a lot

Yes, I recommend this product.

154CM Gator

I had one from 2007 Gerber Gator 154cm and now i picked up 2 more of the same, right off the bat i noticed immediately the difference, the factory grind are not at the same angle as prior, different angle lead to difference in sharpness in my opinion, for the nalstalgic reasons i picked up two due to my Army days i used to carry one of the 440 stainless Gerber gator with serrations, that one still in my possession to this day! Fort Polk BX! I like the textured grips and the 154cm this current blade offers! I like to see they bring back the orange handle models! It will sell! Gerber R U listening? It will sell like hot cakes! Believe me! Best marketing advice here!

It has served me well and has opened up many memories of hunting to field dress my dinner. The edge will hold ! The handle is no slip no matter how covered it is . The blade shows no wear and I hand wash it with boiling water after every harvest. The design and material is a winning combination. The sheath has given up today but after twenty years of service I feel it has served me well and I definitely got my money's worth out it

Questions

1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: what is the best way to sharpen my Gerber knife and what type of sharpener to use

1 Answer
  • A: The actual best way to sharpen your Gerber knife is to send it back to the vendor for a factory fresh sharpen, see their website for details www.gerbergear.com. To sharpen it yourself, the vendor recommends a commercial sharpener like the Smith Two step sharpener available product # 057-8000. This is an easy to use sharpener with a Carbide side for Rough coarse deburring and a ceramic side for fine edge detailing. For more intricate detailing, we sell a Lansky sharpening system (#075-6261) which come with 3 honing stones and oil. Gerber knives come presharpened with a 15 degree sharpen angle.
