Garrison 8000 BTU Electronic Window Air Conditioner

I wanted an 8000BTU window mounted air conditioner as my old portable unit just wasn't cooling our bedroom well and was far too noisy to sleep with it on. I looked a lot of different manufacturers. Garrison doesn't seem to have a wide distribution, but has solid ratings. Once this model went on sale, it was a no brainer. I used some scraps of wood and bought a 2' x 4' sheet of plexy glass so I could mount this in my side to side window. Installation of the unit was about 45 minutes for this type of installation, but I can see it being quite a bit easier if your window pulls down instead of to the side. The unit cools the room very well. We have a fairly big master bedroom facing north so it gets fairly warm in the evenings. I bought a thermometer and measured our room at 32 Celsius. With the unit on full A/C, and fan on high, it cut the temperature down to 26 Celsius in about an hour. It has wonderful icy air, but the Eco mode keeps me awake, so on the warmest nights where I really need it, I use the Chill mode. When the Eco mode is running, the compressor kicks in and out more and the fan turns off for periods of time. This change in sound wakes me up every time it changes. The Chill mode keeps the fan going the whole time, while the compressor does occasionally go off. I find I can sleep through this better. Using my Android phone, I used a dB meter and measured the sound level of the unit. Even on full fan, it only hit an average of 54dB which is fairly quiet compared to some models I have seen. The lower fan settings were around 50 dB. Considerably quieter than my old portable and no drain hose to worry about! It is still on the noisy side compared to the ceiling fan, so I won't be running it every night, but the hottest days of the year, and with global warming promising more of those, I know I can sleep comfortably now. My daughter might need a smaller A/C in her bedroom now though, as she keeps coming in our bedroom when it is hot! I am giving it four solid stars, reserving one because over all quality is still unknown and longevity is uncertain. I am happy with the purchase and the performance at this point though!

Même si ça ne fait qu'une semaine qu'elle est installée, j'en suis très satisfaite. Un petit peu plus bruyante que ma précédente car un peu plus forte, alors je mets le ventilateur plus bas et c'est parfait. Elle est dans la chambre à coucher et ça ne prend pas de temps que la température ambiante s'envole et ça dort bien.

I have lived in Montreal my entire life (39 years). I have NEVER owned/purchased an AC unit EVER. Last night, i bit the bullet and picked this model up. After one night, I am 100% satisfied. easy install. Took minutes to cool up a space of about 500 square feet and by the time the AM came, my bedroom, which is down the hall, was pretty effected by the unit. Great product.

I got this unit yesterday and after setting up and installing it hasn't done anything. I have it set to AC - 18 Celcuis. It will turn on for a minute and I watch the display go from 36 C to 18 in less than a minute and it shuts off. The fan doesn't even seem to turn on in that time. I tried calling the garrison support, but they just keep hanging up when 'transferring' to customer service. Really bad product for the price paid. Very unhappy with the purchase.

I was hesitant to buy this because my last unit was 10000 BTU and this one is only 8000. Well I am glad that I went ahead and bought this one! It cooled my place off in record time and when we first turned it on, I was sitting approximately 12 feet away and to the far right side of the unit and within seconds I could feel the cooler air flow.It is a fairly compact size, it is relatively quiet (more so than my last unit) and I love the remote control! I highly recommend for anyone to purchase this air conditioner!! You won't be disappointed!!
