Works fine for filters it fits - CHECK FIRST!

This cap wrench is packaged the way it is so you can try the fit on the filter in question. For me, it was the Fram PH6018, for my Suzuki Katana 750. The Fram filter is a little smaller than the stock Suzuki filter, so my Suzuki wrench was too large. Went back to the store, popped open another filter, tested fit in the wrench and it's perfectly snug, exactly as it should be. Bought it, took it home, finished the job. I feel bad for anyone for whom the fit was NOT snug ... but for the PH6018, it's perfect. I couldn't find a list of filters that this wrench fits ANYWHERE online, so I had to actually go to the store to find out. I've uploaded a picture of the back of the card for your reference, hopefully it's legible ... not sure why CT doesn't include that image on the part listing ...

USE A PAPER TOWEL BETWEEN WRENCH AND FILTER

As others have noted, sometimes the fit isn't good enough and the wrench spins. I put a paper towel over the wrench, then pushed on to the filter and it was like magic... all of a sudden the wrench gripped properly. The quality of the wrench is not high, but this little trick may make it workable for you.

Unusable for PH4967

This wrench explicitly lists Fram PH4967 as a compatible filter, but the filter fits very loosely in this wrench. I think that this "universal" design - i.e. one tapered wrench that works for a number of sizes - is flawed. It might work for the biggest size listed (67mm), but I don't know for sure. What I do know, for the smaller sizes it's unusable.

Garbage

What a worthless tool! I've thrown away better stuff than this. Halfway through an oil change, and it wouldn't take off the oil cartridge cover, so I couldn't change my filter this time. With enough force, it will just turn around the cover, leaving the cover right where it was. Don't waste your money on this.

A: Tool almost works for installing filter. Have to hand tighten for final seating of filter. This tool will not remove a oil filter from your vehicle.
