A little less sturdy

a year ago

I bought the exact same one in 2010. I use to let it fully open even while there was wind but one day trying to close it, a gust of wind twisted it beyond repair. The 2024 model is lighter and a little bit less sturdy, so I will have to be more careful when there is wind. the old one had a mechanism to install solid link to hold it in place when fully opened. I don't see that anymore. Otherwise, it is basically the same.

Repeat purchase

Purchased as a replacement for the existing awning. Easy to install with 2nd person to assist. If it lasts as long as the similar one we will be happy as we have had for several years withstanding wind and weather conditions. We were fortunate to purchase at sale price.

Q: What the wind rating for this awning ??

A: I have not made note or discovered this rating. I do retract it on forecasts indicating high winds or rain fall. I have a home made vertical pole brace that supports the front end. The wall brackets are very secure and hold well.

Q: Is the fabric waterproof? can I sit under awning during rain without getting wet? I realize it’s not suitable for rainstorms. Also is there something I can put on that would help with that especially waterproofing seams. Thanks

A: I have used it in light rain with no problems. I would think you could waterproof the seams with tent waterproofing.

Q: I have a 10’ high siding wall with 2’ spacing for studs. Would it be possible to mount a 2”x 6” board horizontally secured with screw lag bolts in each stud for adequate reinforcement?

A: Canadian Tire Team answer is incorrect. I purchased the 10x12 version only to find out that the width that attaches to the house is actually 12' as it should be. Safe to say the 8x10 version would be 10' to the wall
