Q: can you grind the beans the night before so that it isnt noisy in the morning?

Q: how long does it stay on for? does it have a self clean its self?

A: The element under the glass carafe stays on for two hours and keeps the coffee very warm. It plays a short tone before shutting off. It does not have any self-clean functions. In addition to replacing/cleaning the filter and rinsing the carafe, the grinder needs to be rinsed/cleaned after each use.

Finally a coffee maker that brews really hot coffee

What an awesome coffee maker. It is annoying you need to turn of the grinder button if you are not using it but I guess it doubles as a second alarm clock. The grinder feature is wonderful except it gets steamed up and wet so if you are doing it a second time I would advise wiping it with a paper towel. It brews regular coffee that is nice and hot and the pot remains hot for the whole time it is sitting. It may not be as fast as some machines but it brews a much better cup of coffee. I am no longer mad at my husband’s impulse purchase it was a great investment.
